We are nominating Ben Barter as an exemplary company representative, consistently going above and beyond in supporting retailers using the NCompass system from Calculus. Ben helps retailers that are newly implementing NCompass in their businesses, provides extra training to those that are implementing new parts of the system, and helps mentor people new into businesses already using the system.
Since moving into the Implementations team six years ago, Ben has worked hard to build a deep understanding of not just how to use NCompass, but also the best processes and procedures used by retailers around the system.
Ben’s approach is highly personalised; he takes great care to understand the unique requirements and ambitions of every retailer, tailoring his guidance and support to help them maximise the benefits of NCompass for their businesses. He applies his deep, working knowledge of NCompass and the wider Calculus ecosystem to give practical, day to day retailer outcomes that benefit each specific retailer, and take into account their unique requirements and staff base. This makes the technology accessible and genuinely useful, and ensures retailers don’t just adopt functionality for the sake of it – they adopt it in the right way for their business.
His commitment does not end once a retailer is onboarded. Ben proactively engages with established users, regularly checking in to make sure they continue to get the most out of the system. If a retailer has not seen a representative for a while, Ben will approach them with an open perspective, and analyse the key areas where they could be benefitting more from the features available in the system, and identify any areas where they may not be using things correctly. He will then draw up a personalised plan for them, including on-going contact and visits to implement things in a manageable, step-by-step process, focussing on the priority areas for that retailer.
When working with new users, Ben offers a clear, calm and personalised training experience, helping to put the users at ease during their transition to the new system. This includes keeping training in the retailer’s own terminology, and keeping things as simple as possible at each stage.
When a retailer has a new requirement outside the existing features offered by NCompass, Ben will use his knowledge of the retailer requirements and the product to work with our Development team to design a real-world solution to the problem. When this is complete, he will then work closely with the project, planning and overseeing the implementation at the retailer.
