Best Training Award – Major Domestic Appliances
Company: Smeg
Entry Statement:
Smeg UK demonstrates a clear and sustained commitment to retail partner training, recognising that well trained, confident retailers are essential to shared commercial success. Through continued investment in people, facilities and resources, Smeg has built a flexible training programme that supports independent retailers in remaining competitive while delivering strong results for the brand.
Retailer training is led by a dedicated specialist team and delivered across multiple locations. Smeg’s flagship training and showroom facility in Abingdon, Oxfordshire offers hands on specialist training days where retailers can experience the latest appliances and technologies in a practical, sales focused environment. Over the past year alone, more than 500 retailers have been trained through Smeg’s programme. Training provision has also expanded to Smeg’s London showroom, using its fully functioning kitchen to give retailers a real world understanding of product performance and consumer use. In addition, Smeg’s Northern Training Centre in Yorkshire provides an accessible base for retailers across the UK, supporting both dedicated training days and consumer facing events such as Experience Smeg.
Smeg offers a broad choice of training formats to suit different learning styles and business needs. In person sessions are complemented by virtual training, supported by ongoing investment in professional filming and streaming equipment to ensure a high quality, accessible experience. Training content has evolved to become more interactive and tailored, with sessions now including quizzes, live engagement tools and focused deep dives into the product categories delegates want to prioritise. Dedicated time is built into each session to address the specific ranges individual retailers stock or plan to grow, with interactive quizzes and prizes helping to increase engagement and knowledge retention.
Beyond live training, Smeg continues to invest in practical, on demand resources that support retailers day to day. An expanding library of professional product videos, including content for new product launches, is produced in Smeg’s in house studio and widely used by retailers for both staff training and customer engagement. These resources are supported by physical and digital product cheat sheets, all featuring scannable QR codes that link directly to relevant YouTube videos by product category. This allows retail teams to access clear, accurate information instantly on the shop floor, reinforcing learning at the point of sale.
Smeg’s training programme is designed to deliver measurable impact. Retailers benefit from improved product knowledge, increased confidence and stronger in store performance. This is further reinforced by personalised staff training ahead of consumer events hosted in store, ensuring teams are aligned, confident and ready to maximise sales opportunities.
By combining investment, flexibility and a deep understanding of independent retail realities, Smeg UK has created a training programme that strengthens partnerships, supports business growth and delivers tangible results, making it a strong contender for the Best Training Award in Major Domestic Appliances.
